Who we are

The Dietetic-led Coeliac Disease (CD) Service operates Tayside wide providing support to adults with a confirmed diagnosis of CD.

How to refer

  • Please refer electronically using SCI-Gateway.
  • All referrals are triaged centrally and allocated an appropriate intervention i.e. Near Me 1:1 or group session, in person or telephone appointment.
  • Please note serologically confirmed coeliac disease (diagnosed in Primary care) age 50 or over, should also be referred directly from Primary Care for upper GI endoscopy.

Key information to include in referral

  • Anthropometric data (height, weight)
  • Medical history.

Who to refer

Who not to refer

  • Where diagnosis has not been confirmed. See pathway (only available on intranet)
  • Note that patients with red-flag symptoms should be referred urgently to Gastroenterology/Endoscopy.
  • As per pathway, where patient is IgA deficient or serology is equivocal patients should be referred for diagnostic endoscopy (on gluten). If coeliac disease is confirmed patient will then be referred onwards to dietetics by the GI team.
